What is GenghisCon?

GenghisCon was born from forward thinking uni students' need for a more affordable Science Fiction, Fantasy and Gaming convention. This upcoming Convention is the 24th Convention since it started in 2002.

It all started in 2001, when a group of students got together to try to plan an affordable fun-filled convention – nothing in Perth filled that niche and people were getting restless about events becoming more expensive and commercial.

Since then, GenghisCon has been running a yearly sci-fi and fantasy convention in January. We host a range of activities at GenghisCon, including panels, workshops, cosplay, board gaming, RPGs, video gaming and more!

GenghisCon Community and Volunteers

GenghisCon is organised by a Committee of Volunteers elected by the Members at the Convention AGM each year. The Committee for 2024/2025 is shown below.

The Convention is filled with events, games and activities from the Committee, Volunteers (Minions), Community Groups and Businesses who have supported the Convention over the decades and our Sponsors who run events or support the events everyone gets to enjoy.

The AGM for Genghis Conventions Inc is occurring on Saturday 18th January 2025 at 4:00pm

This will cover the 2024/2025 period with a Presidents Report, Treasure's Report and Nominations and Voting on 2025/2026 Committee.

COSPLAY

CosPlay at GenghisCon 2025

Everyone is encouraged to come dressed up to the Convention. Come dressed as your favourite character, show or just as fancy as you want. You can put as much or as little effort in as you wish.

We have Professional photographers roaming around the event as well as a Studio setup that is free for all guest. You can have an amazing memory of the Convention to keep. Plans are afoot to get a 360 Photo Booth as well.

We will have several Cosplay events, workshops and panels in the Events list below. For those talented Cosplay guests we even have a series of Judges and a CosPlay competition with Presentations and Awards on the Saturday Afternoon.

THEME ANNOUNCEMENT

The Theme for Cosplay at GenghisCon 2025 is CROSSOVER. Swapping or mixing fandoms, swapping genders or even species think up some crazy ideas to bring to life at the convention.

ASTRO

Astro at GenghisCon 2025

The GenghisCon community has many people and groups involved in various aspects of Space, Research, Astronomy and Astrophotography. This is the first time we will have an Astro Stream across the convention like our very own AstroFest.

If you are interested in Space, Astronomy or the basis of Sci-Fi then you're at the right place. We have some amazing guests and Events and Activities for everyone to enjoy.

Astrophotography Competition

During the Fri and Sat nights of the Convention people are encouraged to take any Astrophoto either with your phone or one of the Events with Telescopes being run. A Committee member or an Event runner can confirm the photo was taken at the convention to be in the running.

On Sunday the Judges will decide what are the best photos and there will be an award ceremony. This event will continue into the coming years so brush on those camera skills.

Digital Gaming at GenghisCon 2025

We have a massive range of Digital Gaming at GenghisCon. Console Gaming is once again led by GenghisCon Royalty Adam MacCaw. We have a new community sponsor being Neon Kandy who are bringing their Arcade machines to the Convention. We also have a set of Virtual Reality games and activities coming to the Convention so if you are a VR Fan or still want to try it out this is the Con for you.

Tournaments

If you are keen to test out your skills or see how quickly you can master a new game there are many Tournaments thoughout the Convention for you to test out your Digital Prowesss. Winners will be formally announced at the Awards Ceremony during the Closing of the Convention.
